igm robots are welding in Doka’s first production site outside the EU!

17.12.2019

Doka is an Austrian world leader in developing, manufacturing and distributing formwork technology for use in all fields of the construction sector. With more than 160 sales and logistic facilities in over 70 countries, Doka has a highly efficient distribution network which ensures that equipment and technical support are provided swiftly and professionally.

The formwork company, a branch of the Umdasch Group AG, has opened its first formwork plant in Russia’s Lipetsk Special Economic Zone (SEZ) 400 km south-east of Moscow. The new corporate branch in Lipetsk will be the first production site of the Austrian concern outside the European Union.

With the new production unit, Doka will sustainably increase the competitiveness in Russia and also use the great potential of the Russian market, especially in the residential and commercial building sector. The 3,500 m² manufacturing facility produces formwork for Russia and other markets with similar requirements. The production will be stepped up gradually to an area of 65,000 m² by next year.

One of the main production systems at Doka Lipetsk is an igm welding robot system. Our automated welding installation possess an outstanding functionality and productivity, providing Doka with a round-a-clock welding capability to produce first-class welded metal structures for its demanding customers.

The robot welding system consists of two welding robots RTE 456, each mounted on a cross and vertical slide, 16 meter longitudinal slide (semi-portal) and 2 working stations with headstock manipulators which can carry up to 4 tons weight. Additionally each manipulator axis can be set at different heights above the floor level using a built-in motor. This provides optimal welding positions for the robot, as well as safe and easy access to the work pieces by Doka’s personnel for tacking, inspection and exchange. The welding power sources (TPS 500i) come from an Austrian supplier too – Fronius International. Each station is equipped with a sliding fume extraction hood allowing time-efficient retrieval and installation of workpieces.
