Oldie but Goldie - igm welding robots - reliable for decades

Lottero Giovanni s.n.c. (Italy) is a long-standing igm customer and has a total of 3 igm robot systems in operation in its production hall. The oldest igm robot system was already put into operation in 1991 and still reliably welds various components in production today.

At Lottero Giovanni, the third generation is already working in the steel industry; their grandfather and company founder was an agricultural blacksmith. Over the years, the company has modernised through the purchase of various machines that make it competitive on the market.

Robot-assisted grinding completes the automated manufacturing process of railway bogies

As an important component of the bogie of rail vehicles, the production process of side and cross members is complex and process control is strict. The bogie not only is a key component of vehicle bearing and transmission, but also an important guarantee for the safe operation of the vehicle. Most structures are welded from steel plates, which requires a lot of grinding to deal with residual stresses after welding and places high demands on the accuracy of the components.
